MIAMI, United States. — In the middle of the grave economic crisis that shakes the country, the Cuban state press highlighted the vacation proposals that the island’s regime will offer in the new summer period.
The newspaper Granmaofficial organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), assures that, with a view to the start of Summer, scheduled for next Sunday, a program dedicated to recreation and healthy recreation for Cubans has been designed.
The partisan media explains that one of the organizations that will remain active during July and August will be the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), an entity with the rank of the Ministry of Sports on the Island.
As stated to Granma José Cedeño Tamayo, general director of the Physical Education and Sports for All division, “attractive proposals were designed from the organization for the optimal use and exploitation of sports infrastructures, in correspondence with the resources of each locality”.
The official pointed out that “it is intended to contribute through the diversification of a program of physical, sports and recreational activities to the reduction of risk factors and improvement of the quality of life of the Cuban population as the most appropriate option for the healthy occupation of free time. and family enjoyment.
The official newspaper indicated that, to favor the recreation and leisure of the population, the country has 577 sports teams, 318 chess areas, 210 therapeutic areas, 5,325 permanent physical recreation areas, 35 swimming pools, among other establishments.
Cultural activities are also planned throughout the country. In this sense, Lizette Martínez Luzardo, general director of Cultural Policies of the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT), informed that among the events scheduled for the summer are the Cucalambeana Day, the Ciudad del Mar Festival in Cienfuegos, the Caribbean Festival in Santiago de Cuba, the Ruta de la Rumba, among other events.
“The Book Festival will be resumed during the two summer months with literary novelty presentations, even in digital formats for download.”
The summer cultural program also includes presentations by the National Ballet of Cuba at the National Theater of Cuba (Havana) and performances by the National Circus in various provinces of the country.
