The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) intervened in a property with a direct connection without a medium voltage meter dedicated to crypto mining between the towns of Nueva Esperanza and Laurel in the Department of Canindeyú, in the area of the Municipal Landfill.
The Ande filed the formal complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office, sos crimes of illegal theft of electrical energy, disruption of public service, as well as sabotageaccording to the Penal Code.

The procedure was performed with a search warrant issued by the judge of Katuete Dr. Hilda Ocampos, where in addition to ANDE, the Public Ministry, the Judiciary and the National Police participated.
They found a transformer without an identification platen, which, due to its technical characteristics, has an approximate power of 2,000 kVA. In addition, 2 empty containers were found with 150 terminals for connecting crypto-asset processors, cables for connecting to the distribution network, and approximately 200 cryptocurrency processing devices.
According to Ande, The estimated property damage is G. 654,042,000 per month.calculated based on the nominal power of the transformer, derived from the irregularity detected, an amount that, in addition to the costs of intervention and application of the fine, according to Law 966/64, must be paid by those responsible for the crime.
The operation was possible thanks to the use of the Distribution SCADA system, which allowed the analysis of the load in the feeder that supplies the area, which, due to the recorded behavioral anomalies, allowed the identification of possible loads that corresponded to facilities dedicated to the theft of electrical energy, which was monitored by a team of specialists from Ande.
