Official DR uniform presented for the World Baseball Classic

The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedobe) presented today the official uniforms of the Dominican Republic for the World Baseball Classic 2023, which will take place from March 9 to 21, 2023 in Taiwan, Japan and the US.

One of the new shirts contains a gradient of the colors blue and red, which alludes to the Dominican flag. The flag is placed on the right sleeve, while at the end of both sides of the sleeve it has a linear tricolor headband. In the center, the name of the Dominican Republic is inscribed, in white.

The other shirt is equally white, with the flag on the right sleeve and the tricolor headband on both sides. The name of the Dominican Republic is in the center in blue with a red border.

The presentation of the new clothes was made during an act in the Quisqueya State.

ROSTER

The Dominican Republic will be part of Group D of the tournament along with Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Israel, plus a winner of the 2022 qualifying stage, and will play this initial stage at loanDepot Park in Miami (USA).

Infielders Manny Machado (San Diego), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto), Rafael Devers (Boston), Willy Adames (Milwaukee), Jean Segura (Miami), Jeremy Peña (Houston), Wander Franco (Tampa) and Robinson Canó are the players called up. The receivers will be Francisco Mejía (Tampa) and Gary Sánchez.

The outfielders who will wear the Dominican colors in the tournament will be Juan Soto and Nelson Cruz (San Diego), Teoscar Hernández and Julio Rodríguez (Seattle), as well as Eloy Jiménez (White Sox). On the pitching side, Sandy Alcántara and Johnny Cueto (Miami) lead the starting rotation, with Cristian Javier (Houston) and Roansy Contreras (Pittsburgh) following.

The relay will be made up of Héctor Neris, Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and Luis García (Houston), who will form the bullpen column, followed by names such as José Leclerc (Texas), Diego Castillo (Seattle), Luis García (San Diego), Gregory Soto (Philadelphia), Camilo Doval (San Francisco), Jarlín García (Pittsburgh) and Yimi García (Toronto).

These men who will represent the Dominican Republic will face the teams of Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Israel and Nicaragua in Group D, in search of one of the two passes to the second stage of the tournament. Left out were José Ramírez (Cleveland), Carlos Santana (Seattle), Emmanuel Clase (Clevelad), Starling Marte (Mets), among others. The World Baseball Classic begins on March 8 at the loanDepot in Miami.
