
The Command with Venezuela announced this Saturday the creation of the Office of the Official Spokesperson of María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutiaconsidered president-elect of Venezuela by the United States and countries in Europe and the region, a body intended to centralize official communication with national and international media, in the midst of the political scenario that Venezuela is going through.
According to a team press release Machadothe initiative arises “in the context of the historical moment that Venezuela is experiencing, and in absolute respect for the will expressed by citizens at the polls.”
The main objective of the new office is to establish a single, constant and reliable channel of informationin Spanish and English, which allows us to offer verified, timely and official content on the main facts, positions and developments linked to the political leadership that, according to the statement, “today embodies the popular mandate.”
“The void of clear and accessible information is often filled by speculation.erroneous interpretations or deliberate misinformation,” the text warns, while emphasizing that these distortions affect the understanding of reality and weaken the unitary effort of the democratic force to achieve freedom in Venezuela.
The Official Spokesperson’s Office will begin operating continuously starting this Saturday, December 20, 2025centralizing relevant and documented information for the press and political actors, both inside and outside the country.
Official spokespersons
He release details that the spokesperson will be in charge of Claudia Macero and David Smolanskywho will act as official spokespersons for the political leadership represented by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia.
Claudia Macero is a journalist and social communicator, graduated from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). She serves as Communications Coordinator for Vente Venezuela and was in charge of communications for the 2023 primary campaign and the 2024 presidential campaign. She remained in asylum at the Argentine Embassy in Caracas until May 2025..
For his part, David Smolansky is a political leader and deputy director of the ConVzla campaign. From Washington DC he represents Machado and González Urrutia, in addition to serve as security advisor and spokesperson. He was mayor of the El Hatillo municipality, with a management recognized for transparency and the reduction of kidnappings, before being dismissed and disqualified, which forced him into exile. Subsequently, the Organization of American States (OAS) appointed him Special Envoy for the Venezuelan migrant and refugee crisis.
The creation of this office occurs in a context of high political and communication tensionmarked by complaints of censorship, misinformation and restrictions on information work, as well as the dispute over the legitimacy of power in Venezuela after the presidential elections.
