In a plenary session of trial, the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-RJ), denied on Tuesday afternoon (4), by 5 votes to 2, request to revoke the plate of Governor Claudio Castro and Deputy Thiago Pampolha, accused of Illicit spending on the 2022 election campaign, with a misappropriation of public money. The Electoral Public Prosecution Service (MPE-RJ) pointed out alleged irregularities in the amount of R $ 10 million in hiring supplier services.
The rapporteur of the case, Judge Rafael Estrela, voted for the acquittal of the Castro/Pampolha plate with the argument that the Electoral MP could not gather evidence about alleged irregularities in the use of campaign money, in the amount of $ 19 million. Judge Daniela Bandeira, Tathiana de Carvalho Costa, Kátia Junqueira and the president of TRE-RJ, Judge Henrique Carlos de Andrade Figueira voted by following the rapporteur’s vote.
Judge Peterson Barroso Simão said, in his vote against the trial of the accounts, that campaign invoices did not bring explanations about the service provided and that “oranges” were used to prove the provision of campaign accounts.
Judge Ricardo Perlingeiro also voted against the approval of Castro/Pampolha Campaign Accounts and was favorable to revoke diplomas “for unlawful campaign resources”.
