Of the 645 municipalities in São Paulo, voters from 18 cities will return to the polls in the second round, on October 27th. In addition to the capital, six other cities are in the metropolitan region, nine in the interior of the state and two on the coast.
The cities in the metropolitan region of São Paulo are Guarulhos, São Bernardo, Diadema, Mauá, Barueri and Taboão da Serra. Inland: São José dos Campos, Ribeirão Preto, São José do Rio Preto, Jundiaí, Piracicaba, Franca, Taubaté, Limeira and Sumaré. On the coast, voters from Santos and Guarujá will vote again.
According to electoral legislation, cities with more than 200,000 voters can have a second round, as long as no candidate reaches an absolute majority of votes – which represents 50% of valid votes, plus one.
