The former prosecutor of the New York Court, Abel Arcia, analyzed the beginning of the hearing of the Odebrecht case in our country, which began this Monday in the Judicial Branch, where more than 50 people remain charged, among which the former presidents of Panama stand out. , Juan Carlos Varela and Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal.
“The trial is symbolic, because it begins at a time when the Panamanian people have been showing that they are fed up with corruption, that they make three and steal four and have been in the streets saying no more, that it is not about which party you are. , of what you said, but of what you are doing. You do and steal, people are fed up with that robbery, “he emphasized.
He added that “those former presidents, those officials, the people feel that they have sold the Homeland, they were characters who said I do not need to steal and, however, the evidence from the authorities says that they have stolen at the expense of the Panamanian people.”
According to Arcia, we must be careful with “legal tricks that we could see, the Panamanian people are already conditioned that every time someone with a high profile, former officials and millionaires are accused, they get tremors, all the discomforts, they get sick and try to circumvent our system, but the townspeople pay for it when they do it”.
This preliminary hearing of the Odebrecht case will be held this Monday in a public hearing in the Judicial Branch, in charge of the judge third liquidator of criminal cases, Baloisa Marquínez at 9:00 am
