Pink October, the month of cancer, and the fight against this disease continues unswervingly.
As part of the campaign in Chile, during the month of October, all of the proceeds from the sale of a group of selected products from the brands of The Estée Lauder Companieswill be donated to be transformed into free mammograms through the Care Foundation and the Oncology Foundation of support to National Cancer Institute. Quotas are limited and are intended for women in a situation of financial vulnerability.
With a presence in 112 municipalities and covering more than 6 million people, the Campaign has been linked in a social way through municipalities and organizations to generate positive effects on mental and physical health in women who have this disease. It is important to highlight that, in its commitment to women’s health, its objective is to help reduce mortality rates in Chile.
The campaign whose objective is to promote the early detection of breast cancerarrived in Chile in 2001, articulating different key actors such as specialists, clinics, cancer centers and organizations, with the aim of educating and informing, also granting the possibility of free mammograms to financially vulnerable women.
¨The purpose of the campaign is that no woman dies from breast cancer, for that it must be detected in time. Educating, informing and raising awareness is everyone’s task. A breast cancer detected in time makes all the difference, in the treatment, in the physical, emotional and financial impact, for the family and for the state, we are all interested in detecting it in time”he pointed Margaret Hanckes, Executive Director of the Campaign Against Breast Cancer of Estée Lauder Companies in Chile.
How to be part of the campaign?
During the month of October, the centers that offer free mammograms will be announced. In addition, the medical specialists linked to this campaign will give informative talks to prevent the increase in figures in the coming years. This year donations will be made via Foundation Pro Helps the National Cancer Institute (INC) and via Care Foundation.
The campaign makes a broad call to become part of it and thus save thousands of lives. To date, more than USD 420,000 have been donated for free mammograms in Chile, with the aim of reducing mortality figures and, in parallel, being able to raise awareness about the importance of self-care in the face of this disease. Timely and united treatment is the main motto of the main campaign against breast cancer in the country.
