The main factors for the development of obesity and other associated diseases are unhealthy eating and lack of physical activity.
The obesity is a chronic disease which is defined as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat, having it predisposes the person to develop other diseases, such as arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and joint problems.
Obesity occurs mainly due to eating more than the body needs and for not getting enough physical activity. The excessive consumption of products with many calories, and with a high content of fat, sodium and sugar, as well as the low consumption of fruits and vegetables, favor the development of obesity and other associated diseases.
Furthermore, this progressive disease affects biological, psychological and social aspects of an individual’s life. It is associated with an increase in mortality and the decrease in the quality of life of those who suffer from it.
In this context, the National Institute of Food and Nutrition (INAN) remember that, to prevent this disease, it is important to adopt a healthy lifestyle from an early age, and maintain it throughout life. This includes healthy eating, correct hydration, good rest and physical activity.
