Obesity can trigger other diseases such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes

“In our country, obesity is associated with many chronic diseases, apart from the fact that obesity itself is also a disease,” said Celestina Delgado, National Head of the Department of Nutritional Health of the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

Delgado indicated that obesity is an inflammatory disease that can cause certain types of cancer, hypertension, diabetes, muscle pain and in some cases chronic kidney failure.

Likewise, he pointed out that obesity must be prevented throughout our life cycle; Since pregnancy, a healthy diet should be maintained, where foods with high amounts of sugar, sweets, ice cream, pills due to their simple and artificial sugars, fat consumption in the form of fried foods, sauces full of fat should be avoided.

“We must consume more fruits and vegetables which give us fibers, vitamins, minerals, we must perform physical activity, which must be like food: every day” concluded Delgado.
