The Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation file against the mayor. The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Crimes Against Women for Gender Reasons will be the one to handle the case.
Salomón Jara, Morenista governor of Oaxaca, was the one who asked that Pérez Delgado be removed from office so that he could assume his responsibility before competent authorities.
The mayor assured that he would temporarily leave his position so as not to hinder the investigations… but he also said that the events were out of context.
“I must express that possibly my action was incorrect, however, I did it in defense of my physical integrity and the citizens who were being attacked,” he said.
