Oaxaca, between the path to transformation and the continuity of the PRI

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), to which the state president belongs, fell to second place in the mood of the electorate. Its candidate Alejandro Avilés, who also competes under the acronym of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), seeks to give continuity to the PRI in the face of the stalking of the Morenista wave and the federal Executive.

According to political analyst Carlos Sorroza Polo, next June 5 not only the governorship of the state is at stake, but important support for the 2024 election. “It is no secret that Oaxaca is a state that has contributed thousands of votes to the current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador and, consequently, Morena has a hand in these elections, ”he says.

In Oaxaca, more is played than the governorship

Since his term began, López Obrador has not hidden his love for Oaxaca. To date, the president has made 28 work tours to the entity, which has become one of his favorites.

In addition to the promotion of its social programs, the vast majority of the official visits of the federal Executive have had the objective of starting up and supervising the progress of the construction of Paved Roads to Municipal Capitals, where the federation has invested little more than 1,726.4 million pesos and has an advance of 423.9 kilometers.

Other tours have been to monitor progress in the construction of the super highways to the Coast and Isthmus regions, which continue to be 65% complete and with goals of being completed next year.

Sorroza Polo points out that whoever wins the election on June 5 will have to lead to a successful conclusion not only the operation of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), another of the president’s “star” projects, and the so-called “fourth transformation” , but also to complete the two super highways (to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and to the Coast) that are more than a decade behind schedule.

López Obrador has also visited the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec to supervise and learn about the progress in the modernization works of the Antonio Dovalí Jaime Refinery, located in the port of Salina Cruz, as well as the new wave breaker and the modernization of the Isthmus Train. and which is part of the CIIT project.
