The spokesman for the High Level Group of the Organization of American States (OAS)Eladio Loizaga, spoke about the meetings they held with the representatives of the country’s main institutions in the face of the political crisis.
After the meeting held by the members of the OAS mission, at the Hotel Swissôtel in Lima, with congressmen from different parliamentary groups, Loizaga gave a brief press conference.
“We have had a dialogue with everyone we have met with that is very candid, very open and very transparent. and in a timely manner we will submit the report to the Permanent Council and there the conclusions we have reached will be known.”, he told the media
Prior to that, he recalled the meetings that this working group had on Monday with the president Pedro Castillo; the head of the judiciary, Elvia Barrios; the head of Parliament, Joseph Williamsand the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides.
The OAS High Level Group is scheduled to meet this Tuesday, November 22, with the Presidency of the Episcopal Conference. In addition, it is expected that he will also hold meetings with business groups, civil society and unions.
It should be noted that the visit follows the request of the Castillo Terrones government to activate the Inter-American Democratic Charter, alleging that the constitutional complaint filed by the National Prosecutor’s Office against him represented a “threat to democracy”.
