The President of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Cármen Lúcia, received on Wednesday (12) the visit of a delegation of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to deal with freedom of expression in Brazil
The delegation is part of the Organization of American States (OAS) and is in the country, at the invitation of the Brazilian government, to make a local diagnosis of the issue.
During the hearing, Cármen Lúcia explained to the special rapporteur for the freedom of expression of the ICUH, Pedro Vaca Villareal, the functioning of the Brazilian electronic voting system and the safety mechanisms of the electronic ballot box, the performance of the TSE in combating misinformation in the electoral process , in addition to emphasizing that the ballot box of the ballot box is made available to experts and political parties a year before the elections.
On Monday (10), the delegation was also with the president of the Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso, and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the processes that deal with the scammer acts of 8 and those that suspended the operations of the social network X last year.
The CDIH delegation will also meet with representatives of the Executive, Legislature, Public Prosecution Service, opposition parliamentarians, organizations that work with human rights and digital platforms to obtain definitive conclusions about the situation of freedom of expression in the country. After passing through Brasilia, the group will go to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
