The health personnel of the city of Buenos Aires grouped in the Association of Graduates in Nursing (ALE) announced a 24 hour stoppagetogether with the Federation of Professionals, for next Tuesday, when they will demonstrate against “misery wages.”
In addition, workers in the sector demand that nursing be recognized as a professional activity.
In that sense, Andrea Ramireza nurse at the Ramos Mejía Hospital and a reference for ALE, said about the new inflation index that became known last week that “the poverty basket reaches 84 thousand pesos and the family basket exceeds 140 thousand.”
“The health team in the hospitals of the richest city in the country receives poverty salaries. And in nursing in particular the situation is aberrant: 70 thousand pesos on average, sums in black and bonuses of 20 thousand, and on top of that they are discriminated against the Professional Career. Intolerable, “he said.
For her part, Carolina Cáceres, a nurse at Tornú Hospital and Press Secretary of the Federation of Professionals, explained: “From ALE, as part of the Federation of Professionals, we promote a 24-hour strike for Tuesday 22 with concentration and mobilization, that we will be defining in the next few hours”.
And he assured that “empowered nursing”, together with the health team, “we are going to follow it to the end for all our claims”, among which are, in addition to salary and transfer to the plant, the Inclusion of Nursing in the Law 6,035 Health Professionals.
In addition, they said that from ALE they are close to completing the goal of 40 thousand signatures in support of the Popular Initiative project, so that the Legislature deals with its inclusion in that law.
In a recent open letter to the head of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, they requested an urgent hearing to achieve that purpose.
