The patients in Santiago will be assigned to direct care of patients suffering from coronavirus viruses. denguechikunguya, oropuche, and their confluence with others that affect the respiratory tract and the digestive system, according to the official press.

Epidemiological crisis in Cuba

Cuba is currently going through a complex epidemiological scenario due to arboviruses, aggravated by the severe economic and energy crisis on the island.

Reinol Delfín García Moreiro, Vice Minister of Public Health, recently commented that to face this scenario, the organization activated all the components of its health system: healthcare, insurance, training, science and innovation, and communication.

In his most recent update On the subject, the Minsap confirmed that the epidemiological situation of the country “continues to be marked by the active circulation of the dengue virus, with serotype 4 predominating in most territories, and by the sustained increase in cases of chikungunya.”

Dr. Carilda Peña García, also vice minister of the sector, explained that during the last week a significant increase in non-specific febrile syndromes was reported, with 109 municipalities that increased medical care for this cause.

“The positivity of the IGM test for dengue also increased, which shows active transmission in several provinces,” said the official. In turn, he pointed out that Guantánamo, Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila and Villa Clara have the highest rates of suspected cases.

The authorities assure that “actions are being carried out that seek to cut the chain of transmission of the Aedes aegypti mosquito”, which maintains a high rate of infestation on the island.

Against the grain, both on the networks and throughout the country, there are numerous criticisms of the government’s actions in the face of the health crisis and citizen complaints about the insufficient actions to address it, both at the healthcare and sanitation levels.

The official figures on patients and victims of these diseases have also been questioned, which according to numerous Internet users are much higher in reality than those officially reported.
