Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican College of Nursing Professionals (CODOPENF), Antonia Rodríguez, denounced today that the nursing staff in the consultation area of the Luis E. Aybar Health Center is receiving psychological abuse by the director of outpatient services, Dr. Onnix Clayton Tapia.
The unionist stated that the doctor does not allow the nursing staff to carry out their functions within that health center, in addition, it prohibits them from circulating in the area of the clinics; arbitrarily removing them from these.
“The doctor-nurse binomial works hand in hand because in the doctor’s office it is the nurse who assists the doctor, in addition to guiding the patient and their families; That is why we do not understand that attitude, our nurses have cried helplessly, because that doctor has taken them out of the offices by the hands. He said that the doctor Cleto does not allow that the nursing staff distributed in the different clinics by the person in charge of the department carry out their functions, thus causing a climate of discomfort and nonconformity of that staff.

“Of a total of 27 offices in this hospital, nurses only work in 2, nutrition and pediatricsthe others the doctor Cleto assigned a general practitioner and a user service staff, dealing with that bad decision, with the good service that the user should receive within the clinics.”
Antonia Rodríguez said that each collaborator has their role in hospitals and that a user service staff is not more qualified than a nurse to provide their services within an office, for this reason, she called for attention to the authorities so that pay attention to this situation.
These statements were offered in the framework of the press conference held in the emergency area of the maternity building of the health center, where several members of the CODOPENF executive committee participated, headed by its president and nurses who work in the aforementioned hospital.
