A worker at the Adolfo D’Empaire Hospital, in Cabimas, was arrested by the Zulia State Police Corps (Cpez), for allegedly selling medical supplies and extorting money from patients and their families.
The accused was apprehended during a police procedure carried out in the Traumatology area of the aforementioned health center, located on the Eastern Coast of the Lake (COL).
The detainee was identified as Johandris José Cantariz Madrid, 44 years old.
Cantariz Madrid’s wife was the one who reported him to the police authorities after he charged her $10 to put a cast on their teenage daughter.
The complaint was made by the wife of the apprehended through the Cpez’s social networks, it refers that, after the complaint, after which, a commission from the Col-Norte Police Coordination Center went to the hospital institution, to approach Cantariz and take him prisoner.
The health center worker, who was also accused of selling medical supplies, was seized 10 gloves, materials to make casts, a surgical overall, a saline solution, a Sifolcaine kit, two walking stirrups, 24 injectors, 16 needles , seven sutures, a steel clamp, a shutter, three soaps, a bag of sitflo and a saw to remove casts, allegedly stolen from the hospital storage, according to the police force.
Cantariz was transferred in custody to the detention room, at the disposal of the 19th Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry, while the proceedings continue to rule out the existence of others involved in the case.
