Clear remains the operator that has benefited the most since the implementation of the number portabilityat the beginning of 2022.
Between January last year and March 2023the Mexican operator gained 25,204 clients and lost 21,218 clients, for which it had a balance in favor of 3,986, according to the Report on Number Portability in Uruguay published this Monday by the Communication Services Regulatory Unit (Ursec). With this, it maintained the trend observed at the end of last year 2022.
For its part, the telephone Movistar it had lost 3,812 users as of the end of March. In the accumulated 15 months, it had 28,229 applications to join the company and 32,041 to leave it. In this way, it expanded its negative balance compared to December 2022.
In the case of beforethe state company gained 33,250 clients and lost 33,424, with which it accumulated a negative balance in net terms of 174 in the period measured by Ursec.
How many people requested number portability?
Up to the end of the first quarter of the year, there had been 214,159 requests for portability. Of this total, 86,459 transfers were carried out successfully, 85,509 were rejected by the donor company, 38,862 were rejected by the Database Administrator (ABD), and 2,888 were from non-active lines.
There were 224 requests on the agenda, 180 that have already been approved by the donor, 31 that have already been requested but have not yet been scheduled, four pending disconnection, and one that was cancelled.
To date, the month with the most change requests was March 2022 with 11,260 in total, while January last year, with 3,998 requests, was the month in which people were least interested in changing.
Mobile phone subscriptions by operator
Meanwhile, Movistar ended the year with 30% of mobile phone subscriptions (from 32% at the end of 2021) and Claro ranked third with a 21% share.
