#NuevoLeón: MC proposes penalizing conversion therapies

The National Survey on Sexual and Gender Diversity (ENDISEG) 2021, carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), revealed that in Mexico 4.6 million people over the age of 15 have a sexual orientation other than heterosexual.

13.9% of people from the trans community and 9.8% of people with a different sexual orientation indicated that within their family nucleus they were forced to attend a doctor, psychologist or religious authority to change their condition.

In Mexico, the first antecedent presented was in Mexico City, where this type of therapy is prohibited and It is punishable by jail and community service. They are also penalized in the State of Mexico, Colima and Zacatecas.
