With the acquittal, due to lack of evidence, of Víctor Díaz Rúa and Ángel Rondón by decision of the Supreme Court, there are no longer any defendants in the Odebrecht case, which began in 2017 with a series of spectacular arrests, broadcast live on television. That spectacular nature led people to believe that the Public Prosecutor’s Office was determined to go to the bitter end of the investigation into the million-dollar bribes paid by the Brazilian company to officials and lobbyists to be favored in public works tenders, but, with the passage of time, the case was diluted – a lot of foam and no chocolate – and a country that was led to believe in mega corruption and the end of impunity, is finally left with what is called nothing, nothing at all…
