Travel to the United States It is a dream for millions of people looking for new opportunities, experiences or studies. Therefore, those who plan to travel must be attentive to this change: although it does not alter the requirements, It is a detail that all tourists must verify before their stay.
The United States Embassy in Bogotá began broadcasting the new “Bridge Visa” (Bridge Visa) since July 2025. This change affects some immigrant visas receptors, who will now receive a document with a different design. The Bridge Visa will be issued together with the existing Lincoln visas, which will remain valid until its expiration date, unless they are revoked or canceled.
Unlike a simple aesthetic change, It incorporates significant improvements in its design. Photography is now integrated in black and white and is much more difficult to duplicate. While Lincoln visas (2002–2025) presented sober tones, the image of the Capitol and Lincoln’s portrait, the new bridge uses vibrant colors and the iconic Golden Gate as a symbol of innovation, cultural diversity and connection with the future.

Modernization seeks to project a clear message: the United States is committed to modernity and openness to the world. It includes multiple visible safety elements only under UV light, inks that change color when moving the document, tactile relief, microscopic micro -impression and advanced holographic effects.
In other words, falsifying the Bridge Visa is practically impossible. This redesign represents a true “upgrade” in documentary security, guaranteeing that migratory trips and procedures are more reliable and protecting both travelers and US authorities against fraud.

Is Lincoln visa valid?
Its current visa is valid until the date it appears in the document and does not require replacement. The new model will only be delivered if your visa expires or if you make a request for the first time. This change does not grant additional migratory benefits; It responds mainly to security and design improvements.
Likewise, traveling with their valid visa while other people already have the updated model will not cause any inconvenience: both formats are equally accepted worldwide. Therefore, its document continues to be fully valid and internationally recognized during all its term of validity.
