The match between Altos and Sport, for the Northeast Cup, ended without a winner. This Sunday (27) the two teams did not start from scratch at the Lindolfo Monteiro stadium, in Teresina, in a delayed duel of the fourth round of the competition and which served as a preview of the confrontation on Wednesday (2), at 16:30 (Brasilia time) , in the same place, for the Copa do Brasil. By being better placed in the ranking of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Leão from Pernambuco will have the advantage of a draw.
The result had little influence on the teams in the table. Jacaré Piauí appears in fifth place in Group B, with the same eight points as Náutico, fourth place and last club in the classification zone to the quarterfinals, being behind by the number of goals scored. The red-blacks also have eight points and appear in third in Group A, but haven’t won for six games.
The first good arrival came from Sport, 15 minutes into the opening stage, with a header by midfielder Pedro Naressi who was close to the post. Altos, however, had the clearest chances, stopping twice at the crossbar. First in the 24th minute, with Betinho, also with a header. Then, at 40, in a long-range kick by fellow striker Eliélton.
The teams lost intensity in the second half. Sport’s first chance came in the 27th minute, with forward Vanegas’ first shot inside the area that went over the goal. At 36, Betinho won one more by the top and again headed out. In the 42nd minute, Leão still lost midfielder William Oliveira for the second yellow card. Nothing, however, that influenced the final result.
