North Korea approves of carrying out pre-emptive nuclear strikes

North Korea toughened its nuclear policy with the enactment of a law that allows it to carry out preventive atomic attacks, and assured that will never give up its atomic weapons despite the pressure of sanctions.

“We will never give up nuclear weapons and there is absolutely no denuclearization or negotiations no bargaining chips in the process,” North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said in a speech to the Supreme National Assembly, the country’s legislative body, which is holding a series of sessions this week.

In context: North Korea says it is ready for any military conflict with the US.

During his speech, published in full by the state newspaper Rodong, Kim said nuclear weapons are “the great pride of the Korean people.” and that as long as there are atomic weapons and maneuvers that threaten the security of your country, “Our path to strengthening our nuclear force will not end.”

In this sense, Pyongyang announced this Friday that it has enacted a law to regulate its nuclear policy, which includes the realization of preventive nuclear strikes if its integrity and its leaders are threatened, or in case of being the object of a nuclear attack or with any another weapon of mass destruction.

The law approved by the Supreme National Assembly provides for the creation of “nuclear forces” that “will be composed of different types of warheads, vectors (carriers), command and control system and all personnel and equipment necessary for the operation.”, according to details published by the state news agency KCNA.

“By enacting the policy on nuclear forces, the status of our country as a nuclear state has become irreversible,” said the North Korean leader, who assured that the regulations have a dissuasive objective and that your country cannot give up its nuclear weapons because it must “prospectively control the United States.”

Kim accused Washington of trying to overthrow the North Korean regime. through “nuclear blackmail”, pressuring it through sanctions to abandon its atomic development, and described this approach by Washington as “an error of judgment and calculation” that it will not take effect even “in hundreds of years”.

“We do not give up the right to legitimate defense (…) to escape the hardships we are experiencing now,” Kim stated, which branded the drift of Pyongyang’s nuclear policy as “a legal demand of the current situation”.

The North Korean leader said that for there to be any change in its nuclear policy, a change in the political and military situation on the Korean peninsula would first be necessary and globally.
