However, he pointed out that the qualified majority – in case the 128 senators attend the session – is built with 85 votes, but said that to avoid any discussion the ideal is to reach 86 votes, which, he emphasized, they already have.
“To avoid any discussion, I say that the ideal is that we reach at least 86 and leave that controversy behind,” said the president of the Board of Directors.
He said that the first reading of the reform will take place on Tuesday, and that on Wednesday the general discussion will begin, followed by the specific discussion. He added that in the evening he will meet first with protesters who are against the constitutional change and then with those who are in favor.
Judicial Reform will be approved, says Sheinbaum
Claudia Sheinbaum, president-elect of Mexico, assured in Bacalar that the Senate will approve the Judicial Reform, amid protests against her visit to Quintana Roo.
“I think it will be approved,” said Sheinbaum after an event in which she accompanied President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The future president affirmed that Morena and its allies already have the necessary votes in the Senate to approve the president’s reform.
