The former president of the Upper House said that even the president has used flights that are not commercial, but accepted that they are from the Army.
The senator commented that it was “necessary” to use the private flight, because he had “little time” to make his tour of Coahuila, since he went to four municipalities in two days.
“I was in Torreón, Francisco I. Madero, Piedras Negras and Acuña in two days, of course, which required me to move faster,” he declared.
When asked about who paid for the private plane, the senator did not respond and stated that he will not make the cost of using this transportation transparent.
“I don’t have to make anything transparent; I already said: nothing to comment on. I’m going to continue touring the country. I’m going to continue touring the country,” he emphasized.
Fernández Noroña commented that when it is necessary to use a private flight, it should be used, and emphasized that there was no “incorrect” situation in his transfer.
“There is no wrong situation. It is a fairly small plane, by the way, with only four seats, but I am not going to fall into the trap,” said the Morenoist.
In addition, he mentioned that the transfer was not paid for with public resources and refused to inform who paid for the flight and who else was on it.
This Wednesday, the newspaper Reforma announced that Gerardo Fernández Noroña rented a business plane, model Socata TBM 850, to participate in Morena’s informational assemblies in various municipalities of Coahuila.
The rental of the aircraft can reach 2 thousand dollars per hour of flight, and the senator used it for six hours and one night, so the payment could reach 14 thousand dollars, which is equivalent to more than 256 thousand pesos, according to Reforma.
It is not the only scandal that Senator Fernández Noroña has had. He has also been criticized for his 12 million pesos house in Morelos and his business class travel.
Last March, Noroña was in France to attend the conference of parliamentary presidents organized by the European Council.
The total cost of his visit to this country was 157,594 pesos, but he returned 66,206 pesos to the Upper House, for which the Senate paid 91,388 pesos.
“I paid for the trip with my own money, I received the equivalent of the tourist cost and I paid the difference out of my pocket, which is what I work for,” he explained in a video.
