In August, the sector manufacture non-primary grew 3.3% when compared to the same month a year before, reported the Central Reserve Bank (BCR). In this way, the accumulated in eight months is 1.1%.

According to the monetary entity, the monthly growth is mainly explained by the advance of mass consumption items, those oriented to the external market and inputs.
In August, the production of mass consumption goods rose 9.1%, accumulating a dynamism of 5.6% from January to August. During the month, production increased mainly of furniture and various manufactures; as well as clothing, dairy products and alcoholic beverages.
The production of goods oriented to the external market grew 7.2% in August and 2.9% so far this year. The result for the month reflected the increased manufacturing of clothing and yarns and fabrics. Meanwhile, input production increased 4% in August and 0.4% between January and August. In that month, the greatest contributions to growth were recorded in processed wood and plastics.
On the other hand, investment-oriented goods decreased 7.7 percent in August and accumulated a drop of 6% so far this year.
It should be noted that in the ninth month of the year, the Peruvian economy grew 3.53%. With this result, an advance of between 2.88% has been accumulated so far in 2024.
