He Central Reserve Bank (BCR) revealed that in October the sector manufacture non-primary grew 6.8% when compared to the same month last year. With this result, it accumulated an advance of 2.1% so far in 2024.

According to the monetary entity, the advance of the tenth month responds mainly to the better result of the mass consumption branches, those oriented to the external market and inputs.
In the month, the manufacturing of mass consumption goods increased by 11.4%, accumulating a dynamism of 6.1% for the year. In October, production increased mainly of miscellaneous manufacturing (66.3%) and furniture (36.3%); as well as clothing (25.7%) and pharmaceutical products (18%).
The production of inputs increased 8.6% in the month, and 1.7% between January and October. In the month, the largest contributions to growth were recorded in processed wood (22.1%) and paper and cardboard packaging (31.1%), as well as in plastics (6.2%), animal feed (36.4%) and basic chemicals ( 15.2%).
In October, the increase in the production of goods oriented to the external market was 15.3% and 6.3% so far this year. The result for the month reflected the greater manufacturing of fabrics and knitted items (32.7%), clothing (25.7%), and yarns and fabrics (12.5%).
Investment-oriented goods decreased 4.1 percent in October and accumulated a drop of 5.2 percent so far this year.
