The government of Nicolás Maduro accumulates more than 16 months of non-payment before the savings bank of the University of Carabobo, despite the fact that the National Assembly approved an additional loan in order to settle these commitments

With each passing day, the professors of the University of Carabobo see how the money that corresponds to them by concept of the savings bank of the Institute of Social Welfare of Teaching and Research Staff (Ipapedi) is devalued with the increase in the price of dollar.

In total, it is about Bs 8.4 million bolivars that the government of Nicolás Maduro has not paid, to the point where they accumulate more than 16 months of delay, so that this debt has lost much of its value. in dollars, which currently amounts to 456,524 dollars according to the exchange rate of Bs 18.6 published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).

According to the president of Ipapedi, Fermín Conde, the situation is “unbearable” and he stresses that payments must be made within five business days following the date on which the corresponding payroll payment was made.

On the other hand, he recalled that the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2020 approved an additional credit destined to honor the commitment with the professors and other public services of the University of Carabobo.

Conde once again urged the authorities of the University of Carabobo, in their capacity as employers, to take the corresponding steps before the National Treasury in order to achieve the cancellation of said debt.

«The payment is necessary to be able to comply with the commitments established with the associates, fundamentally, to cover the leverage of the health and funeral plans currently financed by the professor himself, by virtue of the breach of article 114 of the Law on Universities, which orders the corresponding authorities to protect the members of its teaching and research staff, and to seek by all means, their well-being and that of their relatives,” Conde highlighted.
