Boone will be back with the Yankees
Aaron Boone will be back at the helm of the Yankees in 2023, according to club owner Han Steinbrenner.
“As for Boone, we signed him for the same reasons I mentioned last year. I think he’s a good manager,” Steinbrenner told the Associated Press yesterday. “I don’t see any changes there.”
The Bronx Bombers have agreed to a three-year extension with Boone after the 2021 season.
New York has qualified for all five of the postseasons in which he has been in charge, after replacing Joe Girardi as New York’s manager, but the club has failed to reach the World Series, losing once in the Wild Card Game, twice in the American League Championship Series and twice more in the National League.
However, Steinbrenner did not say whether general manager Brian Cashman will be back. Cashman is not under contract beyond 2022.
