Physicists Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger are the winners of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics for his pioneering work in quantum information, the science that describes nature at the smallest scales.
They were awarded for their “experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell’s inequalities and pioneering quantum information science,” announced the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Aspect (75 years old, France), Clauser (80, United States) and Zeilinger (77, Austria) each receive the award in equal parts.
The Nobel committee said the three have carried out groundbreaking experiments that have paved the way for new technologies. based on quantum information using entangled quantum states, where two particles behave as a single unit even when they are separated.

This is the second Nobel Prize to be announced this week. This Monday the Medicine award was announced, which went to the Swedish Svante Pääbo. This Friday the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced.
