“I’m scared of everything.” This is how an alleged victim of one of the cases opened against Evo Morales for statutory rape and trafficking is now experiencing.. She doesn’t want to give interviews out of fear. It does not point to the coca grower leader nor to judicial or government authorities. For now, she wants time to pass. No proceedings for statutory rape or human trafficking against Morales advanced.

This is not the only one Morales has for this type of crime. According to the Government MinisterEduardo Del Castillo, the former president, has three other cases open, he even said that one is for rape. The authority did not present evidence, but said it will move forward in the study of these demands.

“We do not rule out that there are other acts of rape allegedly committed by the author who is known to all the Bolivian people (Evo Morales). We are investigating, we are receiving complaints formally, informally, and we will do everything in our power to reach the material truth of the facts and, if there are elements of conviction, there will be the corresponding sanctions. “We are talking about three complaints that were received by the Ministry of Government,” said Del Castillo.

“Once we have the corresponding elements “We are going to start the processes,” Indian.

However, other cases that were in court against Evo did not prosper. The lawyer Paola Barriga related that four years ago she filed a complaint for statutory rape against the former president and his close leaders because the crime of statutory rape was evident in a community. The lawyer said that a mother of a victim was forced by the same community to hand over her daughter to attend a “meeting” with Morales and several union leaders.

“They forced mothers who had minor daughters between 12 and 15 years old. They couldn’t take their older daughters. They took them, they drove them to the meetings where they were. In that community alone there were about ten victims, we are not talking about just one and that is how He presented (the complaint), but everything was denied, all the complaints that were filed with the Public Ministry were denied and this means that (Juan) Lanchipa has to respond to the country,” Barriga reproached.

According to the lawyer, the mother of one victim told her that when they arrived at those meetings they did not only Evo was in the place, But there were also the people who accompanied him and they also abused these young girls. “We could prove that there was rape.

These cases have to be reopened and do not remain in impunity”declared Barriga.

One of the alleged victims of one of the statutory rape cases against Morales had brief contact with THE DUTY. She said she’s scared of everything that’s happening happening, but he did not specify if he is afraid of reprisals from Evo Morales, the justice system or government authorities.

“I’m scared with everything. Thanks for caring. I wouldn’t want you to interview me. I’m ashamed (what’s happening), “Let it happen a little,” was the message that the victim sent to this medium.

The Government, through the Plurinational Victim Assistance Service (Sepdavi), will be part of the process being carried out against Evo Morales for the crime of trafficking. The Minister of Justice, César Siles, said that this case would have a penalty of 20 years of pressure due to the aggravating circumstance that the victim was a minor at the time she became pregnant.

“What did Lucho say, don’t mess with the family, the family is sacred”This is how Evo responded last Friday Morales to a journalist’s question about the alleged daughter he had with the victim of the case in which he is now accused.

“Did I ask you how many children you have? What did Lucho say, don’t mess with the family, “The family is sacred.”Morales shot at a journalist who asked him about this process.

“It’s a lie,” says Evo Morales

Morales went out to try to calm the waters against him. He did it on Friday in the city of Cochabamba. TOHe assured that the statutory rape case and trafficking and trafficking installed against him in 2019 is closed and that this process is a “dirty and lying campaign” installed by the Government of Luis Arce because the coca grower is first in the polls.

“I cannot understand what kind of Minister of Justice we have, knowing that this case is closed, because there was nothing, it is a lie,” he said.jo Morales at a press conference in the city of Cochabamba after it was announced that he is being investigated for statutory rape and trafficking when he was in power.

Evo Morales had an arrest warrant on him last Wednesday that lasted a very short time. The intention was to apprehend him through a process trafficking and smuggling of persons and statutory rape. That case began in 2019, when Morales had already left the country after the political crisis of that year. They accused the former president of having impregnated a teenager who, at 16, gave birth to a baby girl. The victim is now in college and raising Morales’ alleged daughter.

In this case, the Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation following the statement of the teenager who became pregnant. That is why a process was opened for trafficking people and rape against Evo Morales; However, as soon as there was minimal progress in the investigation, the case was frozen.

However, the date of birth of the minor (the baby) would have been February 8, 2016, that is, when the parent had with 16 years of age, which in turn means that at the time of the same he procreated the minor (…) with Mr. Juan Evo Morales Ayma, he was 15 years of age,” reads the document signed by prosecutors Pamela Ovando, Christian Guerrero and Andrés Soruco.

This process was frozen after the electoral victory of Luis Arce and could not advance during the administration of Jeanine Áñez, despite the fact that the Former Deputy Minister of Transparency Guido Melgar was also part of the case. This complaint against Morales was reactivated on September 26, 2024 with a single form. The case for the crime of human trafficking in its preliminary investigation was filed in the fifth court against violence of Tarija with Nurej 601102012401698.

Due to this process, Sandra Gutiérrez was fired from the position of district attorney of Tarija at the instruction of the attorney general, Juan Lanchipa. “I arrive at the Tarija Prosecutor’s Officethey didn’t let me in and they gave me the resolution. They told me that Dr. Juan Lanchipa would call me to ask me to resign, which I did not do, so they dismissed me. This is persecution and I am going to denounce it to the international community,” said Gutiérrez.

Can it affect politically?

The former Minister of Government of the Morales administration, Carlos Romero, said that the accusations could damage the image of Evo Morales if they are proven. “If they are not tested, they could strengthen it tremendously,” he concluded.

Romero says that the statutory rape case against Morales was already closed and cannot be accused twice to a person for the same reason.
