Last Friday the board of directors of the Permanent Commission was elected. Lilian Samaniego, Colorado senator and Jorge Ávalos Mariño, Liberal deputy, were left with the presidency and vice-presidency respectively.
The sessions will begin to take place on Wednesday, January 5 and will take place every 15 days. In the conference they will deal with the most important pending projects. They will also have to analyze and debate important projects that may arise during the parliamentary recess (until March 2022).
Walter Harms, national deputy for the ANR (Chartist), and one of the 12 deputies that make up the Permanent Commission, pointed out that they will only deal with bills that arrive urgently in Parliament.
“For the rest, only sessions are made to request reports and statements, but relevant bills are not dealt with,” he explained.
He stressed that there is nothing important on the agenda. In other words, both chambers did not leave outstanding projects of great importance.
MAG
Due to an exchange of words between several legislators, a bill that establishes a budget increase of US $ 20 million for the Ministry of Agriculture (MAG) was not discussed on Monday.
The maximum term in which it can be processed is December 30. Therefore, there is still the possibility of it being dealt with by the Permanent Commission, through an extraordinary session.
Walter Harms, Colorado deputy, ruled out that the initiative is approved. Precisely, the votes of Honor Colorado are key to achieving the completion of the loan.
“Surely the Executive will look for a way to summon an extraordinary. But I don’t think it will prosper, ”he said.
For Harms, there are no arguments to request a new loan and even less for a portfolio with such low results as the MAG was.
“The level of indebtedness in Paraguay is too high, and we cannot continue to borrow for projects that we do not know well about,” he criticized.
GARCIA
Carlos Sebastián García, national deputy for Patria Querida (PPQ), pointed out that the commission will deal with pending issues. In addition, it will be attentive to what is happening in the political swing of the moment.
“It is expected that it will not deal with issues of high incidence, in our opinion everything was urgent, but I suppose that the Executive will insist on issues related to the emergency. The idea is not to approve the last loan, “he referred to the aforementioned MAG loan application.
