No margin to be wrong

No margin to be wrong

The month of April 2023 is not the only moment in which Paraguay is paralyzed by what the presidential elections represent and what this means for the present and future of the population. Times that in turn are closely linked to the past that in the months prior to national suffrage we are left as responsible voters to take the time to evaluate what the candidates have done yesterday and consequently reward and punish them at the polls. Very close to Paraguay, it is planning to elect its next president in October of this year. There are elections in Brazil, the country with which we have the longest common border, the largest migrant population and an economy highly dependent on its trade.

A very serious time where the Brazilian will make it clear who he is going for, taking into account past events with Lula, who was already president for two terms and peppered with corruption scandals, and Bolsonaro, who underestimated covid and cost the lives of more than 600,000 Brazilians among other things. Brazilians must evaluate both and reward or punish their current and past actions.

At 76 years of age, former president Luis Ignacio Lula de Silva, who was imprisoned for corruption cases in 2018, says he has the will and support to return to the intense rodeo of being the first president of a Brazil badly hit by a pandemic. In the polls he is far ahead of Bolsonaro but the elections are still months away.

Necessary emergencies
Biden beat Trump on the effects of the pandemic and was elected and with his years in tow he tries to succeed in the difficult job of managing a country that is like a continent due to its size and variety of inhabitants but faced with galloping inflation and the Russian war against Ukraine.

As citizens, we can no longer improvise on time on issues such as health care, housing, education, security, transportation, and any emergency that we have to resolve to prevent our country from being decimated by bad rulers.

They must also already have clear plans of what to do to face a tomorrow that has turned into uncertainty and fear for a large part of the population. We are obliged to get it right, we cannot continue making mistakes in this march towards a high-quality democracy. We note that carrying out government programs and policies are serious things and cannot be summed up to seriously do, read, speak, and govern something that is demanded not only by Paraguayan and Brazilian citizens, but by everyone on a planet that has marked its dates of change. of presidents.
