What cars do not circulate on Saturday, January 3?
The Secretariat of the Environment (Sedema) of the CDMX determines that cars whose license plate ends 1,2,5,7 and 9 will not be able to circulate on the first and third Saturday of each month. This program applies from 05:00 to 22:00.
Hologram 2: It does not circulate on any Saturday of the month.
Fifth Saturday of the month: Only vehicles with hologram 2 and foreign license plates are restricted.
Fines for not complying with Hoy No Circula
The fines that are stipulated for driving on a day that does not belong to you, can lead to you acquiring a fine, which can range from 20 to 30 times the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA), which translates to paying 2,262 to 3,394 pesos.
Where does Hoy No Circula apply for the first time in 2026?
Since July 1, 2025, Hoy No Circula also operates in the metropolitan areas of Toluca and Santiago Tianguistencofrom Monday to Saturday, for cars with holograms 1 and 2. The fines will begin to apply from January 1, 2026.
What vehicles are exempt from circulation?
1.- Agricultural tractors.
2.- Machinery dedicated to the construction and mining industries.
3.- Motorcycles.
4.- Cars with gross vehicle weight less than or equal to 400 kilograms.
5.- Electric cars.
6.- Category I and II hybrid cars with gasoline and electric propulsion engines.
7.- Vehicles with old and/or classic car registration.
8.- Cars with demonstration and/or transfer registration.
9.- Vehicles whose technology prevents the application of the corresponding Official Mexican Standard.
10.- Vehicles that carry an “Exempt” Hologram.
