The president of the Merchants Federation, Ivan Garcia, said this Friday that this union is committed to donate 15 new engines for patrol of the National Police, in exchange for the authorities changing the resolution that prohibits the consumption and sale of alcoholic beverages in Santo Domingo Este and other municipalities in the Santo Domingo province, from 12 at night to 8 in the morning every day.
“We are going to carry out three patronages to support the Police in those three important municipalities (Santo Domingo Norte, Oeste and Este), to start donating 15 new engines, and thus have a greater displacement,” García said during an interview in “Today Morning«.
The businessman said that in addition, they will maintain the vehicles of the uniformed that are damagedand illuminate the blocks near the establishments of sale of alcoholic beverages and the restaurants that belong to the federation.

“We are committed to safety, with the lighting in front of the business and in the parking lots… we are also going to collaborate with the lighting of the entire block,” said Iván García.
It is recalled that the businessmen had expressed that due to the measure, they have losses of up to 500 thousand pesos per week, and that They have been forced to lay off employees.

The resolution explains that the National Directorate for the Control of the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages (COBA) and the National Police monitor compliance with this measure and execute the relevant actions in accordance with the law to restore order.
The provision is based on the power of the State to intervene before events that violate public order and repair the damage caused in addition to the joint resolution of the agency and the Ministry of Tourism regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
