Extended its tour to Lake Merín
After many years of efforts, starting in March 2024, a bus line began operating between the cities of Melo and Río Branco at night.
The transport unit departs, from Monday to Saturday, at 8:30 p.m. from the Terminal of the departmental capital and returns from the Third Section at 11:30 p.m.
Since last Monday, December 16, the new frequency reaches Lago Merín, returning from the spa at 11 p.m.
Luis Tarrech, in his capacity as Mayor of List 93 of the National Party, was the one who insisted and worked the most to enable this collective passenger transport line at night between the main cities of the department.
“I want to express the deep joy that the news of the bus that was implemented between Melo and Río Branco at 8:30 p.m. to return to Río Branco at 11:30 p.m. brings us. For a few days now this same unit has been arriving at Lake Merín” celebrated William Velazquez.
“As everyone knows, a process was carried out that took a lot of time, a lot of work and a lot of effort for different reasons” recalled the Mayor of the Group led by Mayor Morel.
“We were and are convinced that this is a necessary frequency. That was why the fight continued and they never gave up.” he stated.
“Time proved us right and today we see the results of these efforts” remarked the Departmental Legislator of the National Party.
“We contacted the owner of UNITUR, the company that is in charge of that shift, and he confirmed that since last Monday, December 16, he has been extending the line to Laguna Merín” Velázquez confirmed. “The car leaves from the Melo Bus Terminal at 8:30 p.m. to return from Lake Merín at the 23rd hour, passing through Río Branco at 11:30 p.m.” reported.
“For the summer season that has already begun, they are very comfortable schedules, promoting tourism to the main spa that the department has” considered the Mayor of List 93.
VERY USEFUL FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS
This is a frequency historically requested primarily from the teaching field. Teachers from Melo or other locations in the department who teach classes at the Night Lyceum or the Technical School of Río Branco have since the beginning of the last school year a way to return to their homes on the same night and not have to spend the night at the border or make long journeys with combinations to Treinta y Tres to arrive at the city of Melo early in the morning.
Young people who study in the capital of the department also now have a way to return to Río Branco or rural areas after having received their classes at different tertiary or university education institutions.
