Nicolás Maduro condemned the actions of the OAS in the face of actions against the governments of countries such as Bolivia, Honduras, Brazil or Paraguay, and assured that Venezuela has no intention of returning to this organization, before which it presented its formal withdrawal request in 2017.
Nicolás Maduro arrived this Monday, May 15, at his fourth program “Con Maduro +” and reiterated during his speech that his government does not plan to return to the Organization of American States (OAS), considering that the organization has promoted coups d’état and protected conspiracies in various countries in the region.
In this sense, he indicated that the OAS “is in ruins and should disappear.” He expressed that the organization should remain in a museum of “the macabre, of cynicism, of interventionism.”
Maduro’s statement was made after recent statements by the President of Mexico, Andrés López Obrador, who referred to the OAS as an institution that “is useless” and which should, in his opinion, disappear for “endorsing all authoritarian acts against legitimate, legal, popular governments in Latin America”.
