Nicolás Maduro: “Venezuela cannot be removed from the world’s energy equation”

The ruler Nicolás Maduro reiterated that the sanctions against the country “are nonsense that have hurt Venezuela, but today, with the war in Ukraine, they have done serious damage to Europe and the United States.” From Pdvsa, he said that “never again” they will allow economic or oil sabotage, after commemorating 20 years since the start of the oil strike, which halted the operations of the state company for at least three months as part of a plan to pressure the removal of power from the former president Hugo Chavez

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said on Tuesday, December 6, that Venezuela produces all the oil and refined products that Europe and the United States need and, therefore, “they cannot take it out of the world’s energy equation” through sanctions.

«All the oil, all the refined product, all the gas they need for their energy equation (…) It is in Venezuela and we are able and available to be the suppliers of oil, refined products and gas. They cannot remove Venezuela from the world’s energy equation,” Maduro reiterated. during a speech from the PDVSA headquarters to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the start of the oil strike.

The president said that they are ready to produce, export and make contracts and agreements with all companies in the United States and Europe, and gave as an example the “first positive step” in that direction with the signing of four contracts with Chevron Corp, after the issuance of a license by the Joe Biden administration.

He asserted that “very soon” Chevron will be producing Venezuelan oil to sell in international markets. He also reiterated that the sanctions against the country “are nonsense that have hurt Venezuela, but today, with the war in Ukraine, they have done serious damage to Europe and the United States.”

Maduro: “Never sabotage again”

During his speech, Maduro said that “never again” will they allow economic or oil sabotage, after commemorating 20 years since the start of the oil strike, which halted the operations of the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) for at least three months as part of a plan to pressure ex-president Hugo Chávez out of power.

The ruler, from the PDVSA La Campiña headquarters, ordered the reproduction of three videos about the strike and said that it was “a stateless elite, a stateless management that put their charges at the command of a plan to destroy Venezuela. They thought they could bring us to our knees, but the people taught them a lesson.”

«On December 6, 2002, two things happened: one began the sabotage of the oil fields (…) and two, they committed a monstrous crime with a trained person who was captured, convicted and is still in prison, to repeat the coup. state of that year. Commander Chávez, victim of the criminal attacks, resisted,” summed up the president.

Said Joao de Gouveia, known as the “Plaza Altamira gunman”, was “trained” by foreign forces to commit these acts, an accusation maintained by Chavismo but never verified by the authorities. The 37-year-old Portuguese was working as a taxi driver when on the night of December 6, 2022 he shot at a group of people who had been protesting for months in the square. Three people died and another 25 people were injured.

On several occasions he referred to “the media and extremist right” whom he accused of the murders of protesters and the sabotage of pipelines and oil pipelines. He pointed out that the oil workers’ committees are the guarantee that this type of acts will not be repeated and that it is their responsibility to promote the projects to increase the country’s gas potential.

“20 years where they tried to give up due to hunger and need (…) They believed that they were going to give up on us 20 years ago, they believed that they were going to give up on us due to the pandemic, never,” he asserted.

He also promised that Venezuela “will miraculously recover what is coming is the powerful Venezuela, the Venezuela of the maximum social recovery.”

Maduro also commented on the signing of the social agreement, signed on November 26 in Mexico City, and regretted that not all the population knows the scope of the document that will allow the unfreezing of 3,150 million dollars for projects that include rehabilitation of schools, improvement and endowment of hospitals, recovery of the electrical system and expansion of the World Food Program.

He also referred to the head of the Unitary Platform delegation, former mayor Gerardo Blyde, of whom he said “he is a man of honor, of his word and if he signed he will comply and I hope they will comply for the good of Venezuela, for the good of everyone”.
