Colombian international footballer Nicolas Benedetti stated this Thursday in his presentation with the UD Las Palmas that the possibility of living his first experience in Europe had been ripe for a long time, and he was grateful that the island club has opted for him to help the goal of promotion to the highest category of Spanish football.
The new attacker of the yellow team, 28 years old, believes that he can contribute “assists and goals” to the project, and claims to have “good footing”, so he will benefit from the style of play that his new team practices, which he has said “deserves to be in the First Division.”
“I knew the League, being in Europe caught my attention, it was a decision that was already maturing; the best thing I could do was sign for Las Palmas, because they like to have possession of the ball, they treat it well, they put together short passes, and that benefits me, because the more contact I have with the ball, the more things are going to happen,” he explained during his presentation.
Benedetti affirms that he had “a very good year” in Mexico, where he played almost all the games with Mazatlán FC, and is prepared “for what is to come”, after a “short vacation”, once the Aztec championship is over.

The new attacker of the Gran Canaria team arrived in Gran Canaria on Wednesday, and on Thursday morning he passed the medical examination, so he will immediately be made available to the team’s coach, Luis García, with whom he has not yet spoken. For his part, the club’s sporting director, Luis Helguera, has said that Benedetti is an “important” player, who adapts “to what we believe we need in our game model.”
Helguera has highlighted that the Colombian footballer “has done a lot of his part” to formalize a signing “that has not been easy”, with an initial commitment until June 30, 2026, and the possibility of extending the bond for four more seasons, subject to promotion.
