
Martha Cambero, wife of the political scientist and director of the digital media Punto de CorteNicmer Evans, confirmed that managed to visit him on December 24 at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), in Caracas, and demanded that the authorities formally report the crimes he is accused of following his arrest almost two weeks ago.
Cambero denounced that Evans has been held in El Helicoide since last December 13, when Sebin officials transferred him under the argument of an “interview.” Since then, he stated, No official information has been provided on the reasons for his arrest or on his legal situation.
Demand due process and access to defense for Nicmer Evans

The political scientist’s wife maintained that the absence of official information deepens uncertainty and violates fundamental guarantees recognized in the Constitution and in international treaties signed by Venezuela.
Cambero regretted that the arrest coincides with the December festivities and pointed out that Evans’ empty chair at the family table is a reflection of a situation that is repeated in numerous Venezuelan homes.
He recalled that, according to human rights organizations, around 902 political prisoners will spend Christmas deprived of liberty, far from their families, many of them detained without conviction or clear information about their causes.
Call for reflection and a general amnesty
In his statement, Cambero called on those who exercise power to reflect on the human impact of detentions classified as arbitrary and on the suffering of families who face incommunication and institutional silence.
