Martha Cambero pointed out that despite having communication with her husband, political scientist Nicmer Evans, “he is still in arbitrary detention.” «Today, after 78 hours, that interview became his confinement in El Helicoide. We continue to insist: Nicmer Evans, what is he accused of? “We need to know and we are going to follow the regular channels both at the legal level and at the legal level.”
Martha Cambero, wife of Nicmer Evans, reported that the political scientist was able to communicate with her on the night of Tuesday, December 16, and confirmed that he is detained at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), known as El Helicoide, west of Caracas.
In a publication On social networks, Cambero commented that on the night of Tuesday the 16th, around 7:00 pm, the political scientist contacted her “through a video call.”
«Although we managed to know where he is located and we were able to verify his physical and emotional state, we are still not certain of his legal situation. “We are still waiting for a response,” said the woman, who has already warned about her delicate health condition after surgery on the digestive and bile ducts.

Nicmer Evans was taken from his home in Caracas on Saturday, December 13, by Sebin officials for an “interview.” The director of the Punto de Corte media outlet said he would attend voluntarily, his wife reiterated. Since then they had not had any communication with him until the call on Tuesday the 16th. The family filed a habeas corpus appeal before the Supreme Court of Justice, but they have not received a response.
«Today, after 78 hours, that interview became his confinement in El Helicoide. We continue to insist: Nicmer Evans, what is he accused of? We need to know and we are going to follow the regular channels both at the legal level and at the legal level,” he reaffirmed.
In addition, she noted that despite having communication with her husband, “he continues to be in arbitrary detention.”
Various human rights organizations and political parties have rejected the arrest of Nicmer Evans, who had previously been detained for political reasons in July 2020, after being accused of “inciting hatred.” A month later, in August of that year, he was released after receiving a presidential pardon, along with former opposition deputies, journalists and social activists.
