The Nicaraguan teacher, who appears in the documentary report “It Hurts to Breathe” prepared by Mexican journalist Otoniel Martínez, had to flee the country, because Sandinista fanatics managed to identify her and since the broadcast of the audiovisual, the siege and persecution against her increased.
Martínez had tried to protect the identity of the teacher, however the machinery of the Nicaraguan regime identified her. The journalist met the teacher again at a bus terminal in Arriaga, Chiapas, on his way to the United States.
«After I gave you the interview I had more problems with the Police and I had no other option. I have not had a job since 2018, neither in private nor public schools, and I had to leave out of necessity,” the teacher assured the journalist who interviewed her in Nicaragua last July.

The motivations of the teacher, like the thousands of Nicaraguans who have left the country, is to find a better future in the United States, however, she pointed out that she hopes to return to Nicaragua at some point when there is a change and the situation improves.
