The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollanhian arrived in Nicaragua this Wednesday, February 1, as reported by the Ortega regime through its propaganda media.
On this tour, the Iranian diplomat will hold meetings with members of the Ortega government cabinet and then travel to Venezuela to talk with the administration of dictator Nicolás Maduro.

This will be the first visit of the Iranian foreign minister to these two Latin American countries, which according to the propagandist El 19 Digital, is with the aim of “strengthening the ties of friendship, brotherhood and commerce.”
Abdollanhián was received at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport, in Managua, by three children of the presidential couple, among them Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, Camila Ortega Murillo, General Director of the National Commission for Creative Economy and Daniel Ortega Murillo, coordinator of government propaganda media.
The Nicaraguan Foreign Minister was also present Denis Moncada and the Minister of Youth Lucien Guevaraas well as the Iranian ambassador in Nicaragua, Majid Salehi and other members of his Embassy.
The Nicaraguan dictatorship did not make it clear if the couple of dictators, Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, would be present at the meeting with the Iranian ambassador.
Agreements between Iran and Nicaragua
On December 19, 2022, Nicaragua and Iran signed a cooperation agreement in various fields, including energy, agriculture, trade, among others, according to the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry. To date, no project with Iranian capital has been known to be generating any type of benefit for Nicaragua.
The so-called “Comprehensive Cooperation Program between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua” was signed on Sunday the 18th of the same month in Tehran by the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister, Denis Moncada, and his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir -Abdollahian, according to the official information.

This is the 14th agreement signed between the two countries on cooperation issues so far in 2022, according to information released by the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry.
Relations between Nicaragua and Iran improved from January 2007, when the dictator Daniel Ortega returned to power. In January of last year, Tehran sent Mohsen Rezai, one of those accused by the Argentine Justice for the 1994 attack against the AMIA Jewish mutual in Buenos Aires, to the inauguration ceremony of Ortega as president.
