Nicaraguan regime expels Panamanian priest for holding Holy Week procession

Angel Valdes | April 4, 2023

The Catholic Church confirmed on the morning of this Tuesday, April 4, the expulsion of the Panamanian priest Donaciano Alarcón, who was in Nicaragua. According to information, the religious took out the Holy Week procession in front of his parish, a fact that was not to the liking of the authorities that govern that country and expelled him, leaving him barefoot on the border with Honduras.

“The priest is in a neighboring city, San Marcos de Colón… It happened last night. We continue to pray for the Sister Church of Nicaragua, which despite everything, continues with an unshakable faith”, published the twitter account of Panorama Católico, the official account of the Panamanian Catholic Church.

Daniel Ortega’s regime, in conflict with the church for months, prohibited processions during Holy Week as a means of repression.
