Although the total number of covid-19 infections remains on the rise, the number of deaths has remained at 245 since mid-2022, according to official data, since the Ministry of Health ruled out deaths due to the pandemic in the report issued this Tuesday. .
The data from the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health contrasts with those shown by the Covid-19 Citizen Observatory, a network of independent doctors that monitors the pandemic, which until last July reported 6,066 deaths from pneumonia and other symptoms of the coronavirus, in addition to 32,650 cases. suspects, figures that the Government does not admit.
For its part, the Ministry of Health indicated that it has “attended and provided responsible and careful follow-up to 15,466 people”, a figure that increased by 41 in the last 7 days, according to official data.

“People who have been in responsible and careful follow-up for covid-19 have frequently had associated conditions such as: arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, heart disease, immunodeficiency syndrome, chronic renal failure, a history of stroke, tuberculosis pulmonary disease and chronic lung diseases,” the entity added.
Likewise, the health authorities affirmed, in the report, that 15,147 Nicaraguans survived after contracting covid-19.
The Nicaraguan Executive has reported that 92% of the population over 2 years of age already have the complete vaccination schedule against covid-19, while 96% have at least one dose.
Nicaragua has not applied restrictive measures as part of the fight against the coronavirus since the pandemic began, which has earned it criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO).
