Espacio Público and dozens of non-governmental organizations demand that the authorities immediately release Carlos Correa, who was taken by people dressed in black, hooded, and taken to an unknown destination on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 7, in the center of Caracas when leaving his office.
Mabel Calderín, wife of Carlos Correa, went to the Palace of Justice to also ask that it be announced where the human rights defender is because she says that they have visited different detention centers and are not given information: “I have the right to know where my husband. I demand, please, that you tell me where he is and I also demand that you respect him, respect his life, his integrity, his safety, his health and that you allow us to see him,” he says.
Calderín expresses concern for Correa’s health, as he says that he has permanent treatment for several health conditions such as hypertension, endocrine treatment, pneumonology and dermatology.

Mabel Calderín assured that her husband “has not committed any crime, he has not committed a crime and he has not committed any offense.”
Carlos Correa’s wife delivered a writ of habeas corpus in favor of the human rights defender at the Palace of Justice, along with the lawyers.
The NGOs that advocate for the freedom of the director of Public Space denounce that this mechanism of forced disappearances and arbitrary detentions are ways used by the administration of Nicolás Maduro against human rights defenders, members of political parties or anyone who opposes the management of the Government. .
A few months ago, Nicolás Maduro mentioned Carlos Correa in a speech broadcast by national media, in which he indicated that he remembered him for his work with the Fe y Alegría radio broadcasting network. On the other hand, Correa and the Espacio Público organization have been mentioned by Diosdado Cabello in his television program, in pursuit of their work defending freedom of expression.
