The Venezuelan NGO Coalition for Human Rights and Democracy issued a statement in which it requests the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, the accompaniment to continue working on the constant progress in the field of human rights in Venezuela
The Venezuelan NGO Coalition for Human Rights and Democracy requested this Sunday, January 29, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (Acnudh), Volker Türk, his accompaniment in the work for respect for fundamental guarantees in the country.
The organization applauded the official visit of the official, who was in Caracas from last Thursday to Saturday. He appreciated that during his stay he attended to organizations that defend human rights.
In the statement issued, the NGO requested Türk’s accompaniment to continue working on the constant progress in the field of human rights as one of the most powerful tools to get out of the crisis in Venezuela.

The coalition took the opportunity to express its support for “all Venezuelans who have been victims of human rights violations, their families and friends.” In addition, he assured that they will continue working in the defense of fundamental rights.

On Saturday, at the conclusion of his official visit to Venezuela, the UN high commissioner offered a final statement in which he urged the government and the opposition to embark on a meaningful dialogue, and offered to be a bridge builder between the institutions of the State and the people.
Türk, called for the release of all “arbitrarily detained” prisoners in the country, as well as credible investigations into enforced disappearances, torture and extrajudicial killings.
