The non-governmental organization Justice, Encounter and Forgiveness (JEP) has raised an alert and a urgent demand for “faith of life” after reporting a new episode of arbitrary and massive transfers of detainees for political reasons in Venezuela, executed without notification or transparency.
Mass transfers from three PNB centers
According to the testimonies received by the JEP, people held in the PNB headquarters of La Yaguara, San Agustín and Zone 7 They would have been taken out of these centers simultaneously during the last hours.
The concern is maximum, because the authorities maintain a absolute silence. To date, there is no official information that clarifies:
- Where were they taken? the people.
- Under what authority or procedure these measures were taken.
- The state of health and the conditions of the inmates.
Official silence increases the risk of violations
The NGO emphasizes that this opacity constitutes a serious violation of rights, since the absence of notifications to family members and lawyers prevents independent verification and increases the risks of more serious breaches.
“Official silence not only prevents knowing the exact number of people affected, but also increases the anguish of their families and increases the risks of more serious violations, especially when transfers are carried out without a court order, without clear reasons and without allowing independent monitoring or verification,” the organization stated.
The JEP recalled that the lack of immediate information can lead to cruel treatment, brief enforced disappearances and other serious human rights violations.
Central requirement: faith of life and access to lawyers
Given the seriousness of the situation, Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón reiterates its central requirement to the Venezuelan State, focused on the protection and legal guarantees of detainees:
- Immediately report the whereabouts and conditions of each person transferred.
- Guarantee your physical and psychological integrity (Faith of life).
- Allow immediate access to lawyers of trust and formally notify families.
The NGO assured that it will remain vigilant, documenting each case and accompanying the families in their search for truth and justice.
