Paris SG’s Brazilian star Neymar, recovering from his sprained ankle, is out for the Ligue 1 match at defending champions Lille on Sunday, as is Argentina’s Mauro Icardi, with foot problems, announced the Parisian club.
Neymar “enjoyed a therapeutic supplement today (Saturday), for which he will continue working in the gym for 48 hours before resuming his partial recovery protocol with the group,” PSG said.
Neymar, who turns 30 this Saturday, missed the last two months of competition due to a sprained left ankle, suffered against Saint-Etienne (3-1) on November 28.
Although he began with continuous running on January 26, ‘Ney’ has not yet returned to group training.
His club remains hopeful that he can be in the Champions League round of 16 match against Real Madrid on February 15.
Midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum will initially be available, after the club announced that the Dutchman, with ankle problems, “will join the group next week”.
Spanish central defender Sergio Ramos, injured in his right calf again ten days ago, remains a serious doubt to play against his old team.
With problems in his left foot, Icardi will not be in Lille, and his evolution will be analyzed in the coming days.
PSG, eliminated in the round of 16 of the French Cup by Nice on penalties on Monday, hope to start a positive dynamic against the current French champions with their sights set on the match against Real Madrid.
